• Compatibility with Windows Vista (tested with RC2). By making this release available to the public in advance of Vista's formal release, we can let the early adopters go to it and flush out any remaining compatibility issues between Windows Vista and CoolTabs.
• Color Labels : this feature lets you tag selected items with one of seven different labels, each of which has both a text label and a color associated with it.

• Fixed a bug when an URL item has HFM flag after renaming.

Beta version 2.0.1.1 has been released...

General Notes:

• All v2.0 BETA and non-BETA versions are NOT backward compatible with v1.6 or earlier.
• In order to use v1.0 documents (docks) with v2.0 you should first save them using v1.0 as *.ctd files, then you will be able to import them into v2.0 using ‘Open Dock’ command.
• Though v2.0 can co-exist with v1.0 on the same computer, due to some incompatibilities with v1.0 we recommend that you uninstall any previous versions first.
• The application will only support the English language in the immediate future. Whether other languages will eventually be supported has not yet been decided, however.
• Documentation will not be fully updated until a release candidate or non-BETA release version is available.
• The registration key can be used for the BETA releases of CoolTabs to remove the expiration date.
• All v2.0 BETA versions will not accept v1.6 or earlier registration keys. The non-BETA release version possibly will require another new and different registration key than the v2.0 BETA versions. These keys will be available to qualified registered users from the automatic registration key sender. You will have to request that your new key be sent from the Online Registration Lookup page.

Cool Translucency effects...

In parallel with developing ver 2.0 we are working on a new feature giving us cool translucency effects. This feature is not a part of ver 2.0 yet, all the work is doing on a separate source control branch and later will be merged with a main branch. Below is a picture of a first step we took towards this feature. It is based on a 'Layered Windows' API by Microsoft, and along with using GDI+ framework should give us really interesting translucency effects. It is far from competition, but it's looking pretty cool already...
How soon can you try it? It is still under development, we do not have any estimations yet...

v2.0 pre-beta is downloadable

The pre-beta of Alerma CoolTabs v2.0 is now downloadable from this location. It is exactly the same version handed off to a beta team.

v2.0 pre-beta is handed off to beta team

The pre-beta of Alerma CoolTabs v2.0 is handed off to a small team of beta testers. This version is not a final beta, but a developer version, so expect bugs . The program is not fully tested, so if you discover an error, please report us. This moment there is no documentation for v 2.0. We will make a full documentation after we have finished the programming phase, so at the moment, the users have to explore and find the features themselves in the program. Though it shouldn't be difficult, as program has a good online help system.

This pre-beta release can work until 1st of June.

If the program successfully pass the first round of testing, we will make it available to a larger audience.
